Blackwater to build a mercenary camp where?
Thu Apr 05, 2007 at 06:52:23 PM PDT
Things that make you go hmmm...? Why would Blackwater, a black ops, major military contractor want to build a mercenary camp in the East County of San Diego?
With all the military base closings, why would Blackwater need to build a camp on what was once a remote chicken ranch? An area where golden eagles, mountain lions, deer, bobcats, and other misc. flora and fauna make their home?

Camp Pendleton families accepting donations of food

It was another Indian summer day in San Diego. I was working in my front yard when my older tough-as-nails neighbor wandered over to chat. We began talking about the upcoming election. I was happy to learn that the kid next door, who left for college in August, registered to vote as a Democrat. I said I knew she was smart, and this confirmed it. I said "How anyone could still vote Republican after everything that has transpired is beyond me"
My ex-Marine neighbor then said "I'm voting a straight Democratic ticket this election, because of what I read in the Union the other day, did you read it?"

Anyone else watching CNN?
Thu Apr 13, 2006 at 08:33:26 PM PDT
WTF? CNN is just blowing huge holes in the run up to the war in a special which I can't believe I'm seeing. This is the press standing up, and telling the American public what a LIE the WMD story was. It includes interviews with ex-CIA, WMD inspectors, Sen. Durbin, and on and on. With clips of the Bush Administration mouthing lies, the documents shown, have just proven false.
A Vietnam Veteran brother I never met
Fri Nov 11, 2005 at 03:37:46 PM PDT
I never had the honor of meeting Salvador (Sal) Banaga Jr., in life, but I couldn't love him more if he'd been born into my family. As it turned out, I was adopted into his. He was the oldest son of Sal and Siria Banaga, older brother of six surviving Banaga children. Born and raised in Holtville, California, in the agricultural Imperial Valley.
Sal loved art and music. Several of his beautiful oil paintings show real, and growing, talent. He played in a local rock and roll band during high school. He was killed in action at age 22.
Sal served in the Army- Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment (Cacti Green), Viet Nam.

My letter to Sen. Barbara Boxer
Thu Sep 01, 2005 at 01:03:53 PM PDT
Well, beware those who have reached their last straw. The camels back was broken this afternoon when watching Shrub lecture me on doing my part, as a citizen in the private sector.
I know Sen. Boxer has been a thorn in the side of this administration, and decided to unload my frustration in a letter telling her how angry this California taxpayer/voter is.
Many of you are better at expressing yourselves, and much in my letter has been said in various diaries and comments....but I just had to get this off my chest.

Warning re: Get Motivated Seminars
Wed Nov 17, 2004 at 02:05:47 PM PDT
Several weeks ago my new boss asked if I'd be interested in attending a seminar being held in Anaheim. The seminar is called "Get Motivated" and he and another manager had attended several years ago. They thought the seminar had been a good business investment, and wanted other employees to have the opportunity to attend as well.
Yesterday, was the date for our work group to attend. The event is an all day event, with the seminar booked into the same venue over several days. I had to get up at 4:30 A.M. in order to make the 8:00 A.M. start time for the seminar. My ticket came with a tear off coupon for the "Get Motivated" workbook. You are encouraged to use the workbook throughout the day, to take notes.
